Creamy Ground Beef and Shells Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb (450g) ground beef

8 oz (225g) medium pasta shells

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

1 cup milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

2 tbsp olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:

In a large pot, cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture:

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside.

  1. Sauté the Vegetables:

In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté the onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.

  1. Create the Sauce:

Sprinkle the flour over the onion and garlic, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes to create a roux. Add the beef broth, milk, and heavy cream, whisking to ensure a smooth mixture.

Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  1. Combine Everything:

Add the cooked ground beef, diced tomatoes, and drained pasta shells to the skillet. Stir well to coat everything in the sauce.

Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

  1. Serve:

Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes (if using). Serve hot.

Enjoy your creamy ground beef and shells! This dish pairs well with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
